A month had gone by since the fall of the white country. Hikaru and Kaoru
had become very close to Haruhi, who they discovered was the princess of the red
country. She was deeply upset by the death of Tamaki, but had no suspicion that
the twins had caused his downfall. In fact, Hikaru told her that when he found the
culprit responsible he would have them executed on the spot. Kaoru was allowing
his brother to get closer to Haruhi than himself; he wanted him to be happy after all.

One day as they all sat in the main hall, a guard came bursting through the
door, looking worried and frightened. "M-My lord! Th-The purple country-!" Hikaru held
up a hand for him to wait, then turned and smiled at Haruhi. "Haruhi, would you mind
waiting in the drawing room for a moment?"

"Um...alright, if you want." She looked at him a bit worriedly, but then turned and
walked out through the side door. "Alright then.." Hikaru crossed one leg over the other,
resting his chin in his hand. "What of the violet country?"

The guard fell to one knee in front of the throne as he explained. "The prince of the country of violet says that he thinks you had something to do with the fall of the white country. He has declared war on you my lord, and he has enlisted the blue and pink countries to aid him! They said that they had enough evidence to condemn you to death. I expect they will be here by tomorrow, late tonight at the very least..."

Kaoru's eyes widened at this news. He glanced in Hikaru's direction, his brow creasing worriedly. "Hikaru..." The elder closed his eyes for a moment, then uncrossed his legs and stood up. "Well then...if it's a battle they wish for...so be it."

He snapped his fingers, bringing the guard up and into a saluting, at-the-ready position. "Ready every troop we have, even the retired ones if you must, and have them wait at the border to attack. I will show them that I am not to be messed with. Go prepare for war! NOW!!"

The guard responded with a quick bow, then raced out as fast as possible. Hikaru called Haruhi back into the hall. "Haruhi...you must return to your country for now. It will be dangerous here for awhile, much too dangerous for you." Kaoru nodded in agreement.

"We will have a carriage take you back to the red country right away." Haruhi gave them both a determined look. "No...I know something's wrong. If I leave I have a feeling I won't see either of you again." Kaoru smiled gently, leading her to the door.

"Something has come up is all. Please, return home for us, and give our best regards to the king." After finally talking her into it, the twins said good-bye and Kaoru packed Haruhi and her luggage into a carriage and sent her home. Kaoru turned away from her sad eyes and went back into the hall, seeing Hikaru seated in his seat of power once more. He walked over, placing a hand on his twin's chest.

"She may be right Hikaru...she may not see us again." Hikaru looked up, placing his hand on Kaoru's and smiling. "I wouldn't worry too much Kaoru...prince Kyouya may be intelligent but he is still no match for these countries." Kaoru nodded, sitting on the arm of the throne. "Yes...of course."
